I love being active deep in nature for the inspiration and introspection and hopefully the quiet. There are many beautiful trails in my local area and further afield that I love to hike and our favorite biking trail in Lee's Summit is the Rock Island Trail and of course, the Katy trail that goes across Missouri. What is the best way to package the sculpture and get it to NY? lots of debate. The safest would be to drive there but that isn't feasible. No matter what - it needs to be packaged and boxed with lots of bubble wrap and more. Then what? Should I ship it --- it's large and heavy -- that will be expensive and risky --- have you seen how they handle packages? Or, should I take it with me on the plane? its too big for carry-on, will it fit in a checked suitcase, can I check a box? After researching the options. I made a custom box that would fit the sculpture with appropriate padding. After measuring this and all the options -- we concluded we could pack it in our largest suitcase - its hard sided on 3 sides so we taped wood to the box on the soft side, added as much padding as I could. Oh, what if TSA needs to inspect - that would be a very big challenge. Iy added a note in the suitcase to tell them what was in the box so they hopefully wouldn't try to open the box.
