I had lots of fun interviewing some fellow young talent at the @IATS KZN auditions recently, but I sensed a lot of nerves when the artists were asked to give an impromptu interview on camera. Interview technique is a staple skill that actors should develop as they step into the media industry spotlight and grow their portfolio, but how do you handle an UNEXPECTED interview? Read below as I drop some advice from a professional. 😉 Here are three tips for delivering an impromptu interview as an actor:
1. Stay Calm and Focused 🧘🏾♂️Take a deep breath and center yourself. Remember to listen to the interviewer and respond to their questions thoughtfully. Stay focused on the topic at hand and avoid getting sidetracked.
2. Be Confident and Authentic 😎 Speak with confidence and be yourself. Don't worry about being perfect, just be honest and genuine in your responses. Authenticity is key to creating a connection with your audience who will be listening to your interview.
3. Use Specific Examples 👌🏽 Whenever possible, use specific examples to illustrate your point. This can help make your answers more engaging and memorable. Think about recent experiences or projects you've worked on and be prepared to share stories or insights about them.
