I don’t care about products I care about PEOPLE… and the Earth, the ground I walk on, the air I breathe. I’ve been struggling to figure out what has been bothering me on tiktok as my content lags behind lately. It’s that I can’t get on board with ignoring what’s happening around me because it might shad0wban me or I might lose followers. You guys wanted to hear what I have to say - I created this account to have and support open conversations about things that don’t get talked about enough like money. Well, this is the pivot. This is what I am turning my content towards, and if you are content to keep ignoring the fire in your backyard, feel free to tune me out. But I can’t watch quietly anymore. I couldn’t pin down why the “influencer track” I talked about in my last few videos made me so uncomfortable - its because it’s such a lie. The skyrocket to fame should be a reason to care MORE about people - not to lift yourself to an untouchable level of comfort and ignore what is happening below. I look so grown up now, and I guess I am 😭 C OVID changed my life forever. When I got it from an irresponsible customer at work, I laid in my bed four days into it, feeling myself struggle to breathe for the first time in my life. I was a pack a day smoker, and it scared me so bad to feel like my lungs wouldn’t work. I quit smoking the following week, and now even the idea of them makes me queasy. Then my great-grandmother passed, and we couldn’t even have a funeral… my friends lost their jobs, their families, and even I was laid off for weeks. I lost my sense of taste for over a year and had to do aromatherapy and other treatments to get it back but it’s never been the same. But I got to spend time with my family, forged strong new friendships, and made SO MUCH art during that time in my life. I figured out my career was draining me, joined a band and recorded two EPs… I feel like I was drifting before everything happened. I feel anchored now. In a weird way, everything changed, but it turned out all right. It changed the way I see the world, and especially other people, and softened me in some unexpected places. Materials used were watercolor paper, cheap craftsmart/ceramcoat acrylics, liquitex black gouache, posca markers and dollar store brushes. Starting on a black background makes those colors pop!
