#stitch with @Jen Hamilton exercise is a great took to prepare for labor & birth (unmedicated or not!). But as always make sure you’re cleared by your dr to workout 😊

Birth is unpredictable. We can prepare as best we can (and I do recommend this!) but at the end of the day, we can’t control the outcome.

So why do you hear me and other fitness professionals talking about training for labor and birth?

Because labor and birth is like a marathon. It takes an incredible amount of strength and stamina to get through labor, not to mention the amount of mental stamina you need to keep going.

It is true that our bodies are made to birth, and while you don't necessarily NEED a strong bod to push your baby out, the way you train physically can help reduce time in active labor, reduce the risk of interventions, and can also help build up your mental toughness.

It also has so many benefits during pregnancy such as reduced aches and pains, increased energy, and positive mood. All things that can help make pregnancy more enjoyable!

If you’re looking for guidance, check out the ways we can work together!

*One thing I do want to say is if you are unable to workout for whatever reason during pregnancy, THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE DOOMED. So please don't read into it this way. Exercise is a tool to help, but it's not an end-all-be-all. Remember that birth outcomes are largely out of our control, and if things don't go the way you hope for, it doesn't mean you did something wrong!*

The short answer? If you want to move through your pregnancy without feeling like a debilitated waddling shell of a human (I’m speaking from personal experience from here), you need an exercise strategy that is going to support your changing body.

But if it was really as easy as throwing together a few exercises you saved on Instagram, you’d be feeling like a pregnant goddess and likely not reading this post right now 👀

The truth is that wanting to save money and doing it on your own makes sense. When there’s so much free info online, it can’t be that hard….right? Plus having a baby is expensive!

Trust me I get it. Investing in 1:1 coaching during pregnancy can be scary because it not only requires your commitment to show up, but it also requires hard work (which is the last thing you probably feel like doing when you’re legit making a human).

And you might be thinking…

“What if life gets in the way and I can’t keep up with the workouts?”

“What if the pain I’m experiencing doesn’t actually improve?”

And “what if after all the hard work and money I invested, I still end up having a c-section and it feels like it all was a waste of time?”

But I’ll take your “what ifs” and raise you one more: what if despite all the obstacles that may come into your path….it’s MORE than worth it?!

Pregnancy isn’t just a time to invest in your baby. It’s also a time to invest in YOU.

When we work together, we aren’t just coming up with a personalized workout plan for you and calling it a day. You’ll walk away with an understanding and knowledge about your body that will empower you to get results to last a lifetime.

Replying to @promisingpinesfarm continuing to strength train throughout pregnancy has so many benefits! Main things you want to pay attention to are your breathing techniques and if you start to notice any heaviness or discomfort in the pelvic floor

Replying to @Carol Kayla O'Neil I have diastasis recti and if i dont properly engage my core, I see this! (These are pics of my belly). We arent necessarily trying to eliminate this from ever happening, but instead understand that when you see this you either 1) arent engaging correctly or 2) you’re not ready for the exercise that is causing this to happen
