This #AsianHeritageMonth, we’re highlighting a local organization here in #Vancouver that is committed to revitalizing Vancouver’s Historic Chinatown! 🏼✹ The Chinatown Storytelling Centre, operated by the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation, is home to Canada’s first permanent exhibit space dedicated to telling the stories of the Chinese Canadian Journey and the living heritage of Vancouver’s Chinatown. The Chinatown Storytelling Centre has permanent and rotating exhibits so make sure to check out the special “Raised in Chinatown” exhibit before it’s gone forever. From the traditional Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples, to Chinatown, Japantown, and Hogan’s Alley, Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside has always been a diverse community. Located in the Downtown Eastside, UGM’s heart is to celebrate our neighbourhoods’ diversity of history and cultures, and to love and serve their communities well. As we continue to reflect and recognize the many contributions that Canadians of Asian Heritage have made and continue to make in Canada, we also celebrate the rich culture that has made our city and country what it is today!
