My baby girl passed peacefully in my arms. Grief is intense and physically painful. Grief says maybe we could’ve done things differently. But love says we gave everything we could and we never, ever left your side. I am so thankful I got to experience all your joy and warmth. You are an amazing, incredible little kitty. This wasn’t how I envisioned Sandy’s happily-ever-after, but we are making the most of it. Sandy’s final chapter of life will be full of affection, comfort, and support… and I will hold her when the moment of transition comes.

My sweet girl. Sandy was adopted, and we had high hopes for a bright future! Massive tumors were discovered, and the adopters decided they could not lose a cat this quickly (which i completely understand! They recently lost their previous cat to cancer, and it was heartbreaking for them). So I got Sandy and brought her home, and now we are her official parents for life. Ive never had a hospice foster pet before. It is so incredibly hard. But we will love her all the rest of her days. Sandy is a Wilkes family member now. For life. 💔

Its been a busy week! I made gift bags for our upcoming 2023-2024 mentorship program, wore my Gator gear for the alumni meeting, and of course received lots of emotional support from my sweet foster kitties! How cute is Sandy? She is very serious about her catnip toys. ❤️🥰😻🌈
