As I’ve tried to get my body back into skating condition over the last year, I’ve also been focused on my heart health during this recovery. A year ago I had the most traumatic injury of my life. It hasn’t been the recovery I wished for, more like the recovery I deserve for trying to cheat a realistic timeline. My first comeback attempt was shattered early on because I ignored warning signs that my body wasn’t ready. After a second surgery to realign the bone in November, I’m back doing what I love but with a more careful and disciplined approach. I still have a long way to go and I embrace the challenges ahead. The wheels have not fallen off yet.
