Listen, I am NOT a hiker. I am NOT adventurous. Still, I pushed past slippery slopes, and rocks and off the beaten paths trails for almost an hour before deciding at the point where the hike looked like a rollercoaster drop, that I was cool right where I was at. 😂 I wasn’t upset with myself, I was proud of myself. Sometimes pushing past your fears means pushing past just enough, whatever that looks like for you. I get to walk away from this hike feeling accomplished. I got in almost 12k steps by time we left there and feel good about it. 🥹 I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but push yourself, and let yourself stop just as often. The type of fear and anxiety that has built up inside of me since becoming a mother is mind blowing. Previously I lived reckless af, I could have used some of the hesitancy I fight with daily now back then, so as much as I know I’ll never have more children, I also know the one I have saved me in so many ways. I fear everything, everywhere, all of the time. My intrusive thoughts have been debilitating me for years now and while I know my limits, I’m excited to be at a place in my life where I can quiet them, even if for only 5 minutes at a time, to do shit like walk over hanging bridges that hang hundreds of feet in the air above ground in the Costa Rica jungles. Doing this alongside my mini is even more special, because we both get to practice and implement the bravery + confidence I somehow lost along this journey in being her mom. As much as she has seen me down , she see’s me fight my way back up- EVERYTIME.
