Hardcore #lymphedema self-care: Finding a bench to elevate your swollen leg while at a show 💙🤘
I had a BLASTTT at #EmoNite , but man - all that jumping and dancing had my leg screaming. And not screaming along to the music, either, but with throbbing pain and heaviness.
The music was loud, but not so loud that I couldn't listen to my body. I had to find a way to get some relief and honor my leg's needs.
Thankfully, this venue has a number of options for seating along the perimeter of the floor, so I sat out for a couple songs and propped my leg up for some much-needed #selfcare .
After sitting for a few minutes - and drinking lots of water to stay hydrated - I felt ready to get back on the floor and scream-sing my little heart out!

How I do my pump routine! 🔌 One of my favorite tools in my "#lymphedema tool kit" is my #LymphaPress Optimal Plus, seen here with Comfysleeve 12 chamber leg sleeves by @lympha_press .
To get the most out of my pump sesh, I get gravity on my side and elevate my legs while pumping. Here I'm using my Lounge Doctor leg pillow to elevate during my treatment.

I also like to do #manuallymphaticdrainage massage before and even during my session to help prep my #lymphaticsystem for the lymph to flow. My cat, Cosmo, likes to help too 😸
During my hour-long treatment, I usually do a little work on my computer, watch an episode or two of a favorite show, or read... more often than not, though, I end up dozing off.
Then, my favorite part: When my treatment session is over, I unzip my leg sleeves, wiggle my toes, and say "Hello, long time no see!" to my ankles 👋 💙 🦶

I got to try out a Mitaka #SurgicalMicroscope while at the National #Lymphedema Network conference. This type of microscope is used in #supermicrosurgery , allowing surgeons to operate on #LymphaticVessels and veins that are otherwise too small to see with the naked eye. We're talking like, 1 mm in diameter! 🤯 Pretty cool stuff. #lymphedemasurgery #microsurgery
