The best way to prepare physically for travel, is by walking!
While I'm on a trip, depending on the city or that day's activities, I can easily walk between 7-10 miles.
If possible, I like to walk a city since it more cost effective than taking ubers or public transit. Plus, I'm able to see parts
of the city I'd miss if I was in a vehicle or underground.
So when I'm preparing for travel, I like to go for walks at least 3 times a week, whether it's on a treadmill or around my neighborhood. I knew I was forgetting something…
“Remember the Alamo!”, a battle cry used by General Sam Houston to ignite his men, one month after the historic battle in present day San Antonio, Texas.
The historic Battle of the Alamo was Texas’ fight for independence against the Mexican army that lasted thirteen days. (February 23rd to March 6th, 1836)
This battle is famous and significant because of the number of soldiers that were present at this skirmish. During the thirteen-day battle, the Mexican army was prepared with between 1,800-6,000 soldiers.
For the Texans, they were drastically outnumbered with less than 200 soldiers, including the famed Davy Crockett, James Bowie and William Travis.
One would think that this fight should be done in one day, but the 189 Texans were able to defeat 1,000-1,600 Mexican soldiers over the span of 13 days.

On top of its beautiful biodiversity, rainforests, volcanoes and beaches, Costa Rica is one of the world’s top destinations for surfing.
Don’t be scared though, there are several beaches around the country that are great for beginner surfers.
There are two great times to visit Costa Rica if you intend to go surfing. December through Spring if you are a beginner and May to October if you are looking for a challenge!
Regardless of your ability, if you want a change of scenery from your rainforest excursions in the rainforest, it’s nice to unwind at the beach while catching some waves.

San Antonio, Texas is the first major US city-stop above Mexico, so they have astounding Mexican, and Tex-Mex cuisine. (Please don’t ask me the differences and similarities, I’m still learning)
Every local gave me a handful of their best restaurant spots, and not a single one of them missed!
There would have been more food options, but the phone didn’t eat first for those. 😅
On top of the rich history, and overall niceness of its people; San Antonio is definitely a must visit if you want to try authentic Mexican cuisine within the US.

Le Jardin Secret is a place where architecture meets nature.
There are 2 different gardens in Le Jardin Secret, an exotic and an Islamic. Both gardens are a cool and calming place to escape from the busy medina.
I highly recommend getting a ticket for a tour of the tower in the grounds. Headscarves are a staple in the Berber community as they are indigenous to the region of Northern Africa. If you didn’t know, Northern Africa is mainly comprised of deserts and is known for being one of the driest regions on Earth.
In the video above, I am being wrapped in a Tuareg turban by someone from the Berber community. He expressed that the benefits of the turban is to protect yourself from the harsh sun and blowing sand, like their ancestors had to when they were traversing the hostile climate of the deserts.
Originally, the men wore Tuareg turbans as veils to protect themselves against the spirits of the dead, called “Kel Eru”. They believed the spirits had the ability to enter through their mouth and nose when traveling through the desert.

The Getsemaní neighborhood in Cartagena has transformed over time thanks to these murals. The art movement started locally with the idea to reclaim the streets. Now international artists come to make their mark, as well.

Regardless of the type of traveling I am doing, I always make sure all of my devices are fully charged, as well as my batteries to go with them.
