I get manual lymphatic drainage for LipoLymphedema about twice a week and after each session, I get the arm that was massages wrapped. This helps my body pump out extra lymphatic fluids stuck due to disordered lumphatics brought on by connective tissue disorder. I try wearing the wraps as long as I can but usually make it about 8 hours before I unravel them. Wrapping changes the size of the arm when there is excess lymphatic fluid, but it does not treat Lipedema (one half of the LipoLymphedema disorder). Compression maintains the size of the limb when worn regularly and fitted appropriately. I didnt purchase these wrapping materials. These were chosen and aupplies by my Certified Lymphedema Therapist. Do y’all remember when Michael Phelps was prepping for a competition listening to Lil Wayne’s “A Milli?” Thats who I think I am. 🤣 I wanna be a “swimmer” so bad. Im almost ip to a mile. Give me time and Im gonna be swimming like the pros 💪🏾 I’ve never had lessons, but Lipedema floats so, we kinda have an advantage. I watch YouTube for tips. I like being in water more than I like being on land. It provides the BEST compression money can buy for folks with Lipedema and despite my attitude about waking up early in the morning, swimming is my most favorite thing in the world to do! I’ve decided that to swim more regularly since it makes me happy. The difference in my attitude before a swim versus after is HUGE! Check out the change in my video! I wished I’d seen a Certified Lymphadema Therapist a long time ago, even before my stage 4 doagnosis of both Lipedema and Lymphedema. If you have any leg or arm swelling at all it can be beneficial! Youll learn the appropriate wY to self perform MLD, get recommended for an appropriate pneumatic pump for your situation (which I made the mistake of just getting one myself that isnt great for me) and get wrapped if needed. Its also really nice to talk to someone that onows something evennif just a little about whats happening to your body!
