1. Product build up: inefficient past cleans may have caused product to build up on the floor. You’ll need to remove that and prevent it from happening again by mopping with hot water and a good pH neutral detergent (like @For All Australia )
2. Cold water: hot water gives the surfactants in your detergent more soil-lifting power.
3. Dirty mop water: you won’t be lifting anything off the floor if your mop and water are dirty.
4. Over wetting: you’ll leave water spots on a floor if you over wet it, plus you’d be cleaning in a sloppy way that isn’t effectively lifting soil from the surface. A well wrung out mop is best.

One of the most common mistakes I see especially with the Insta accounts that share DIY cleaning recipes is the use of vinegar as an all purpose spray or floor cleaner.
I’m just not a fan of it at all, there’s too many surfaces it has the potential to damage -
- stone / marble
- polished concrete floors
- wood anything
- stainless steel
And not to mention it just smells bad.
I know it’s good for build up on shower screen but I’m usually just happy with a scourer or magic eraser.
