Shampoo on "We go together now!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 (Read the caption)One of the major things I teach my mentees is that the shampoo is the most important part of the entire experience. Heavy emphasis on "most important part." There are some clients who could actually style their hair on their own but they can't shampoo their own hair like the kid does and that's why they keep coming. 🤣 A client that enjoys your personal shampoo technique is a regular client for life. I say, spend a GOOD amount of time at the bowl. Learn their head curvature and their preferences. Learn their itchy spots. Learn their sensitive areas. Find that spot that they've been wanting to get since last week. Find a rhythm and flow with it. Make shampoo choices based on what their hair AND scalp needs are.Do they like to talk and catch up during shampoo time? Or do they like to smell the Rosemary and tea tree scents and take some deep breaths to clear their mind? Maybe shampoo time is nap time.Do they like more pressure or less?Comfortable water temperatures. Customize your shampoo. Never rush it. Memorize it. And make it memorable everytime. We prefer styling foam (mousse) for #retwists as opposed to gels, waxes, creams, butters and custards. When styling locs we like to use water based products that provide moisture and hold but wash out completely at the clients next shampoo to avoid buildup within the loc.
