Seven years ago, I made a radical move, leaving my parents' house just outside London to start a new chapter in Manchester. It was a long, bloody journey – two-thirds of the way across the country, to be precise. Since then, a lot has changed. I've transformed my appearance with piercings, a glorious mane of hair, a colossal beard, and fresh specs.
But it's not just about the exterior. My beliefs about the universe have shifted, and I've explored various job sectors, from fundraising to retail. I even ventured into self-employment, running a tarot business – that's right, I'm reading cards! Plus, I've recently become a homeowner.
Seven years ago, I couldn't have imagined I'd be where I am today. Am I happier? Mostly. Am I more sure of who I am? In some ways, absolutely. I've come out as non-binary, discovered I'm autistic (got the official diagnosis and everything), and learned so much about myself. I've grown into a kinder, more loving person, or at least, I'd like to think so.
All of this became possible because I embraced change. I refused to settle for the status quo, and now I'm here to celebrate how far I've come – further than I ever dreamed.
