🛑 If you are encouraging your child to jump in the pool, what would happen if they were not wearing a “puddle jumper” or Mom/Dad were not right there to catch them?
At Swim Safe Now, we teach our students to 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐘:
👀open their eyes & hold their breath
🏊♀️swim towards a point of safety
⭐️float to catch their breath, then continue that swim-float-swim sequence as many times as needed until they reach their goal, or they can remain floating if a point of safety can’t be reached.
😁✋Smiles and high fives optional, but highly recommended!
Head over to swimsafenow.com for lesson info and to connect with any of our highly trained and Certified Instructors today! Fall schedules are filling up fast…

‼️Don’t teach little ones to blow bubbles! While this is a well-intentioned attempt to get little swimmers to put their face in the water, it is actually an outdated and ineffective approach to learning to swim. Blowing bubbles reinforces exhaling before submersion. This dramatically decreases the amount of time a child can hold their breath underwater, increasing the likelihood of sinking and taking in water as they try and inhale underwater.
There is a place within advanced swimming skills to learn to exhale within the stroke cycle, during arm recovery. This is developmentally appropriate for advanced swimmers over the age of 6, learning strokes.
Blowing air out of the lungs (our internal life preserver) is not appropriate during initial stages of learning proper swim postures and controlling buoyancy.
Proper breath control is the first thing we teach at Swim Safe Now, making sure our little students open their eyes, inhale, and hold their breath as they feel the water rise, prior to submersion. No blowing bubbles!

When picking out your bathing suits, look for bright colors and avoid muted tones and blues. The bright colors will stand out if you fall into a pool and it makes it easier to identify! Choosing neons, yellows, pinks, and red colored swimsuits could save your child’s life! Like for more survival swim tips!
