When I first started making sourdough, over 10 years ago... most people dont know i spent years battling with a homemade sourdough starter that caused me nothing but frustration. I threw in the dough-covered towel. In fact, i quit making sourdough altogether for at least a year. Sometimes, you have to admit defeat in the kitchen! And I did with my homemade sourdough starter. I didn't want to admit defeat because I had spent over 2 years trying to grow and cultivate my own starter that was failing. I was failing and wasting so much time, energy, and money on baking items that were going directly into the garbage. I can't tell you just how many times I cried about it, but I did. And as someone who's a perfectionist, I couldn't stand not being able to get the hang of this.
