💳How To Earn AA Miles
There are several credit cards which earn AA miles directly as well as one transferable points program partnership.
Citi and Barclays each issue co-branded AA cards that earn miles directly. Both offer a personal and a business card.
Bilt Rewards is the only transfer partner of AA. You can earn points with the Bilt Card then transfer the points to AA.
You can transfer Marriott points to AA, but the earn rates on Marriott cards are subpar and the transfer ratio is 3:1.

Probably one of the best first class flights I’ve taken. I now want to try the daytime flight to get the full experience.

One-way from Tokyo Haneda to New York-JFK for 85,000 Virgin Flying Club points + ~$446 taxes/fees.
Note: Japan reduced the cap on surcharges on April 1, so the taxes/fees are now closer to $300 on a one-way.
You can transfer Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, and Citi points to Virgin to book.
You could also book with ANA Mileage Club (round-trip only), Air Canada Aeroplan, Avianca LifeMiles, or United Mileage Plus.
To find award space, I generally suggest using Air Canada or United. Virgin’s online search will not display ANA award space so you need to find space on Air Canada or United then call to book.

When Emirates increased the surcharges 3 time earlier this year, they really wrecked the value of award tickets.
Fortunately, they didn’t increase the surcharges on their fifth freedom routes between the US and Europe.
That means you can book a one-way Emirates first class award ticket with 85k miles + ~105 taxes/fees.
💳How To Earn Emirates Skywards Miles
Emirates is a transfer partner of all of the major transferable currencies: Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase, Citi, and Marriott.
That means there are plenty of credit card options to help you earn the points need for this flight.
🛫Which Route Should You Fly?
The flight between Newark and Athens is operated by a Boeing 777 and has a smaller first class cabin.
The flight between JFK and Milan is operated by an A380 which has inflight showers.
I’d recommend flying from Europe to the US on one of the two routes as they’re daytime flights so you’ll be awake for the experience.
Don’t forget to enjoy a glass or three of Dom Perignon champagne!

Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways all get tons of talk in the US. It makes sense as they each have multiple US routes.
However, Oman Air is not to be forgotten!
If you’re someone who enjoys pair trips to different regions together or you simply enjoy trying fun flights, this one is for you.
Oman Air first class can be booked between Muscat and London for 65,000 Aeroplan points.
I suggest flying out of Muscat so you can try Oman’s first class lounge (it’s really impressive).
Plus, you can avoid the Air Passenger Duty (APD) fee on flights departing most airports in the UK.
You can transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One miles, and Bilt points to Aeroplan and transfers process instantly.
I wouldn’t expect to find more than one seat available to be booked with points.
