well, not literally. but they do love sweet-tasting things. bitter tastes usually represent toxic in the plant world, so when encountered they try to steer clear of it. 🐛
this Angulate Batwing larvae is showing tasting behaviour on my finger. 🖤
🍁 fun fact about this species: those sharp needle-like spines sticking out are covered in a toxin that causes a painful sting upon contact. i am not being stung because i am not presenting as a threat. 🌻

use this method if ever you need to safely transport a butterfly or moth. ✌️
make sure to gently work with the creature, allowing them to unhook their feet from the surface slowly or you could injure them. 🌿
it's a common myth that touching a butterfly or moths wings and accidently removing the 'dust' will hurt or stop them from being able to fly. 🦋
whilst touching *could* remove scales that help towards mimicry or predatory defence design - it doesn't physically affect them and is actually the least harmful way to move said insect if necessary. 💛
(but please DON'T go picking bugs up willynilly thankyou 👀)

did you know - these moths feed from beehives in the wild, so in captivity they must be hand-fed for the best chance of survival! 🌿
this method takes a lot of practice as they are slippery, strong lil escape artists 💪 but once you get the hang of it, it's easy peasy. the more you feed them the more they get used to the handling too. 🤗
