The first draft of my song "Save It For A Rainy Day" has been missing for nearly three decades now. I remember last seeing it back in the early 1990s when I was putting together my book "Songs in the Rough." My wife has been kind enough to preserve all my rough drafts from various albums over the years, which is quite a task in itself. I mentioned to her on Friday that "Save It" had gone missing and was probably lost forever. Jimmy is one of my all-time favorite songwriters. I've been a fan since I was 16 when I first heard Richard Harris cover Jimmy’s song “MacArthur Park.” What a song!

Remembering my pal David Crosby on his birthday. His passing earlier this year still hurts. I knew David for almost thirty years and have been a fan of his musical talents since he was in The Byrds and followed him to Crosby, Stills & Nash.

Yes, I still have the smashed guitar. The entire cast signed it for me. Yes, John really did smash that guitar over my head, I knew it was coming, but it was terrifying nonetheless. We only did this scene in two takes. No, this scene was not originally in the script. “I Gave My Love A Cherry,” or “The Riddle Song,” is a 15th Century English folk song. We used it as it was public domain, so there were no licensing fees. Yes, that really is me, they had me shave my beard, and the director (John Landis), and his wife, Deborah, pinned my long hair back to make it short. The guitar was a cheap classical, but I insisted it be in tune for the scene.
