Viral Girl Dinner Trend – today we are sharing our take on the low effort meal trend

We love that easy meals are having a moment but why do girl dinners have to only be snack-type foods?

As dietitians, we’d like to change up the definition of the “girl dinner”. Girl dinners can be as minimal or as extravagant as any girl or individual would like it to be!

Pro Tip: The secret to creating healthy meals is to include foods you actually enjoy and those that will leave you feeling your best. For us, that means including a protein, fibre, and healthy fat source.

INGREDIENTS:
- Parathas, cooked – highly recommend using (however, flour tortilla and wraps work just as well)
- provolone cheese, grated
- mushrooms, sliced and chopped
- garlic sausage, diced and pre-cooked
- bell peppers, finely diced
- garlic powder, to taste
- salt, to taste
- basil, chiffon

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To a pan over medium heat, add sliced mushrooms and pre-cooked sausage and sauté to allow flavours to combine (can use same sausage pan to maximize flavour)
2. Add salt and garlic powder to taste and continue to cook
3. Once done, add mushroom mixture to a bowl and set aside for assembly
4. to a paratha (cooked according to package), add cheese followed by mushroom mixture and diced peppers. Next sprinkle more cheese then place another paratha overtop and transfer to a frying pan. Heat over medium heat until sausage has had a chance to reheat properly.
5. Once done, remove from pan and cut into slices. Allow quesadillas to cool prior to eating, about 2-3 minutes.
6. Enjoy!

Simple bhindi kadhi made with @shanafoodscanada frozen sliced okra..

INGREDIENTS,
- Oil, 2 tablespoon
- Cumin, 1 teaspoon
- Okra(bhindi), 1.5 cups
- Gramflour(besan), 1/4 cup
- Yogurt, 1 cup
- Water, 2 cups(to adjust consistency)
- Salt to taste
- Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder to taste
- Garlic, 2 cloves minced

INSTRUCTIONS,
- take a bowl and mix gramflour and yogurt. Make sure there are no lumps.
- mince garlic and keep it aside.
- heat oil in a pan. Add cumins.
- add turmeric powder, garlic and saute for a while.
- add @shanafoodscanada frozen okras, salt and saute for a while.
- add yogurt mixture, water to adjust consistency and simmer the curry on medium flame for 10 minutes. Cover the pot with lid.
- serve hot with rice and naan and have onions, tomatoes on the side😃
