Did you ever feel like someone doesn't like you? [part 1]What are you not able to feel, that you would like to feel, in that moment? I'm using here a cognitive theory, that maybe just maybe, can empower you to be the person who you want to be. Especially when you are feeling unliked. 👎 ❤️🥰 (Part 1. Check out part 2 tomorrow!) ✅ I love you.#CBT#p ositivepsychology#Po siFest
Do you feel constrained? Or, have you ever gotten a paper cut? What happens in the brain when you get that raiser slash is, basically, all of your attention goes to the pain, your entire being is hurting - for a TINY CUT! This is similar with our emotions, when in emotional pain or distress, all we notice is the hurt. It is hard for us to notice anything else and we easily fall into a magnifying glass over the pain, an “all or nothing” feeling, the world turns black and white. Barbara Fredrickson from UCLA studies positive emotions, and demonstrates that they broaden our perspective – and the opposite is true too – when we experience painful feelings, if we widen our horizons, we will feel better. This means that if you are sad, it can help to, what Fredrickson calls, broaden your perspective. You can explore sensations and stimulations to open your perspective. She says that even going outside for a walk, or a drive, OPENS your visual periphery and even just that can expand and therefore ease your feelings, and influence positive emotions, meaning constructive thoughts to cope more successfully and optimize your health and wellbeing. It's called the broaden and build theory of positive emotions.
