Come and organize my books with me! I’ve been slowly moving my work space from my spare bedroom to my garage.
One of my bigger tasks was trying to figure out the best way to organize all of the books that I have in my shop!
Alphabetical by title? Alphabetical by author? By season? By holiday? By colour? By size?
I think what I finally decided on was to dedicate each shelf to a season/holiday and then dedicate a shelf to special interests and educational books! That way I know exactly what shelf to go to grab a book!

5 things I have learned in my first year of business…honestly I could probably write 20 but let’s stick with 5 for now.
Never stop creating - your products will hit a stand still. If you don’t evolve and use your creativity to your advantage you WILL hit a wall.
You need to believe in yourself - self doubt is constantly in my face. My products aren’t good enough, they aren’t inexpensive enough, there are better things out there…blah blah blah. I have really had to learn to switch my mind set. Now trust me though…there are definitely more days where I have self doubt then I have confidence still. I’m a work in progress!
Find your circle of supporters - this one is crucial! Find the shops that will respect your boundaries, that will collaborate with you and want to see you succeed. They will be the ones cheering you on and the ones you can trust with idea sharing and brainstorming. This also means finding an amazing circle of customers. I’m so grateful to have found both!
Success comes to those who work hard for it - You can’t sit back, open a shop and just hope that the sales will come…none of that “if you build it they will come” mentality (does anyone know that reference?! Or am I just old). Networking, advertising, supporting, getting your products out there…that all goes hand in hand with building a successful brand.
Your hard work will eventually pay off - it might take a year or two but if you have true passion for what you are doing, you will get there!
I’m excited to see what the next few years will bring for Sewing Seeds Play…my idea board grows by the week!
