✨The birthing process will have some level of discomfort and some level of intensity for each of us. You can train your mind for it!

🦵🏼Wall sits create discomfort in the quads as they contract. Your legs will start to burn and then shake with the intensity over time. Hold it as long as you can safely.
PRACTICE:
🌬BREATHING
✨BIRTH ZONE aka MENTAL FOCUS
.
✨Wall sits train your coping skill set to get to the other side. You can’t quit a contraction! Build up to a 1.5 minute hold.
.
1️⃣Sit down on wall as if you are sitting in a chair. Press your lower back into the wall to fire the quads and take the pressure off your knees. Make sure your feet are firm on the ground and won’t move.
.
2️⃣Drop your shoulders, release your hands, relax your face, loosen your glutes, breathe. Focus your mind on something other than the contraction, burning, shaking sensation.
.
3️⃣Train with intensity!! Birthing a baby will have intense moments!! When a wall sit becomes easy…squeeze a ball between your knees for more intensity and then increase again with adding weight.
.

“You are complete, 10 centimeters, let’s try some practice pushes.” I was told this exact thing 23+ years ago with my first born. It took me 2.5 hours to push his 9.8oz #baby body across my finish line with a nurse pressing down on top of my belly! (Kudos to those who know this maneuver and the why.)

🤍I was ignorant back then! Not any more! I am sharing my knowledge with you so you can be in the KNOW about #naturalbirth !

💥DO NOT start pushing unless your body is spontaneously pushing!! Your body is ready to birth your baby and your baby is ready to be born when spontaneous pushing begins. It is an amazing phenomenon!
.
💪🏻When your uterus is ready to evict the baby, you will experience the fetal ejection reflex (FER)! You feel pushy or grunty and then the overwhelming bear down urge to push kicks in. You can’t stop it! (May or may not experience this sensation with an epidural.) Let your uterus finish its job!
.
💥If your body is NOT spontaneously pushing, it’s NOT time to start pushing just because you are a 10! This is what we are conditioned to think and how we are being coached into pushing in certain birthing environments. Let your body guide you through the birthing process!
.
Reasons:
1️⃣Baby is still high in the pelvis and needs to labor down a bit more with contractions.
2️⃣Baby may need to finish the rotation through the pelvis before pushing.
3️⃣Baby may need time to reposition for a better position to exit the pelvis.
4️⃣It just might be your body isn’t ready to birth a baby or your baby is not quite ready to be birthed.
.
Randomly pushing at 10cm…could lead to pushing for HOURS! You don’t want to push that long! It’s utterly EXHAUSTING! Not to mention baby may not like the extra squeezes and start communicating with their heart beat “I don’t like this!”

‼️VAGINAL CHECKS ARE OPTIONAL‼️

You have to give consent before a vaginal check is done during pregnancy and labor! You should be asked:
Do you want a vaginal exam?
Are you ok with me checking your cervix today?
.
A YES or NO answer to the question so it is very clearly stated!
.
There are providers who start cervical checks at 36 weeks to start planting the seed to expecting moms for induction or cesarean because this is how they like to doctor.
.
‼️YOU ARE 36 WEEKS!! NOT EVEN FULL TERM YET!‼️ Your cervix will not be dilated. Plus you need contractions to push baby’s head down onto the cervix to cause dilation.
.
‼️NO CONTRACTIONS NO DILATION‼️It takes strong, intense contractions for your body to open up fully for baby to come out.
.
Keep the providers out of your vagina during pregnancy!! Help keep youself off the routine standard route to induction or cesarean because it is how your provider wants to deliver your baby.
