Last weekend, our film about the 2021 Cumbre Vieja Eruption 🌋 has been screened at the great Global Science Film Festival held in Zurich 🇨🇭 this year.
It was a fantastic feeling to see our short film projected on a big cinema screen in front of 200 persons 🤩.

Earlier this month we had the chance to shoot interviews of renowned Swiss scientists 🇨🇭🎥🎙️
In an unique setting at the Swiss Alpine Club ⛰️ (Geneva section), we filmed 3 geologists internationally renowned for their research work on the Alps. They were interviewed by Dr. Joel Ruch (University of Geneva) and Dr. Anna Rauch (Cartogrip) as part of the setting up of an exhibition relating the history of the study of the Alps over the last 2 centuries. This temporary exhibition, organized by Joel Ruch and the University of Geneva, will be inaugurated on May 13 at the University of Geneva exhibition hall (Geneva, Switzerland). The interview with these scientists will occupy a central part of the exhibition.
If you are interested with science, nature, mountains, geology, Alps, etc…this exhibition is definitely not to be missed! 😉

Tracking the footsteps of the Archosaurs in Émosson 🇨🇭

In the Émosson region (Canton of Valais, Swiss Alps), a paleontological treasure was discovered at an altitude of 2400 m. On a sandstone slab, footprints left by animals 240 million years ago were unveiled in 1976 during an exceptionally warm summer that melted the snow covering the footprints. What animals could have left these traces, in what environment did they live and why are these footprints visible today in Émosson? Tamara El Hossny and Lionel Cavin, both paleontologists at the Natural History Museul of Geneva and at the University of Geneva, answer these questions and show us all the secrets contained in these fossilised footsteps...

The hidden treasures of the Lebanese mountains
Scientific documentary produced by SciencEscape. Tamara El Hossnu, PhD student in paleontology, presents the site of Haqel, an exceptional fossiliferous deposit located a few kilometers from Beirut. Among the fossils discovered there are Cretaceous fishes that Tamara studies in detail at the Museum of Natural History of Geneva and University of Geneva (Switzerland). She explains why this site is important for the understanding of the evolution of life but also for the study of past climates. Pierre, from the Abi-Saad family, fossil hunters for 3 generations and owners of the Haqel site, shares his excavation work as well as the family museum in #Byblos where more incredible specimens are exposed. Dr. Lionel Cavin, paleontologist at the Museum of Natural History of Geneva, presents the history of the collaboration between #Switzerland and #Lebanon on the study of Lebanese fossils, which began with the work of the famous Swiss naturalists Aloïs Humbert and François-Jules Pictet De La Rive in the 19th century.

Seriously threatened by climate change, they are now the subject of study by many scientists around the world, especially in Switzerland where the Alps are full of them. This short documentary follows geoscientists as they use ground penetrating radar to image the internal structure of the Tsanfleuron glacier, in the Glacier3000 resort (Switzerland). This research project has global implications with regards to glacial water supply and to the dynamic evolution of glaciers under the influence of climate change.
