I LOVE my geese very much. Goslings are the sweetest babies I’ve ever raised, and they’re such amazing birds. However, no one warned me how aggressive geese can get as breeding season approaches. Last year I was shocked when my 4 adult Embden geese cornered and killed my alpha rooster in the run. All I heard was the commotion and I was too late to save my rooster, I had to euthanize him to end his suffering. Even knowing what I know, it almost happened again and they attacked another rooster and almost killed him. I intervened in time, but geese need their own, separate housing come breeding season 😔 They cohabitate with my chickens and ducks wonderfully until late January/February, so now they will be free ranging permanently, weather permitting. I think they get bored when it’s really cold and they’re “stuck” in the run and attack for seemingly no reason. Learn from my mistakes and raise with caution!
