Last night, we were able to honor 98 year old World War II Veteran, David Silvas. Silvas was born on March 29, 1925, in Terlingua, Tx. Mr. Silvas has two sons and four daughters. He enlisted into the United States Army from 1942-1945. Mr. Silvas served in the 725 Field Artillery Battalion, Group Battery-B, 70th Division. During his deployment in June 1944, D-Day the invasion of Normandy, Mr. Silvas landed in Le Havre, France with his unit to liberate the French. Mr. Silvas was also able to meet General Patton. While in Germany, Mr. Silvas and other American soldiers were invited to attend a Birthday Banquet for Queen Elizabeth.
