Every year, more than 73,000 refugees resettle in the United States, with over three million seeking refuge in the country over the years. One such refugee is Alessandro, a 25-year-old from Nicaragua who left his country due to dangers related to his gender identity. After arriving in the U.S. in 2021, he began his gender transition. Despite his family in Nicaragua abandoning him, he found support from his cousin and the nonprofit organization Samaritas in Detroit. With the help of fellow refugee Hamzah Barood, Alessandro settled in, received necessary treatment, and now works as a translator, experiencing a happiness he struggles to put into words. We are thrilled to expand our partnership with @Verizon with the launch of our first Driving Simulator in Dearborn, MI! 🚘 Designed for refugees, the Driving Simulator allows users to practice their navigation skills through different driving scenarios.🚦With this tool, refugees will strengthen their understanding of the rules of the road, surpass language barriers, and "jump-start" their futures! 🛑 In addition to the Dearborn Driving Simulator, we plan to launch at least two more in Southeast Michigan... stay tuned! 👀 Thanks @FOX 2 Detroit for capturing the launch!
