I recently found this French Provincial Coffee Table AND 2 similar end tables all out for trash so I brought them home to fix up and make a matching set. The coffee table was solid wood but the end tables were laminate, so after I gave them a good clean, I sanded all the old finish off the beautiful walnut on the top and scuffed up the rest. I gave everything but the sanded wood a spray of clear shellac to act as a bonding primer and then painted all three pieces in a Forest Green One Hour Enamel from Wise Owl Paint.Ā  Once I’d finished my first coat though, I realized that this colour was NOT the right choice for these tables so I switched it up to a dark grey that I had on hand instead.Ā  When all the paint was dry, IĀ  gave the wood one last smooth out. I wanted a bit of a barely there grey wash on here but as soon as I brushed on the first bit of stain, I knew I’d messed up. I panicked and stained the rest of the top to even things out and then scrubbed off as much of the stain as I could with some mineral spirits and left it to dry. I sealed it up with a little wipe on polyurethane and now these three mismatched tables that I picked up from the trash are ready for a new home. Make sure to follow along to see how I save all kinds of different furniture piece from heading to the landfill. #furnituremakeover #dumpsterdiver #fliptok #paintedfurniture #recycledfurniture created by Katie Scott @salvagedbyk.scott with Katie Scott @salvagedbyk.scott's original sound
