“I had the title first,” Salme explains. “It was going to be a love song, but I wanted to write that age-old story from a new perspective.” She continues, “So, I stepped forth as a cocky, wide-eyed optimist with the opening line, ‘As a self appointed expert on the politics of love…’ It’s a new character, at least for me!”
