It was a day filled with pride, celebration, and achievement as we gathered to commemorate the promotions of our dedicated team members. At the Sacramento Fire Promotional Ceremony, we recognized and celebrated the remarkable careers of those who have gone above and beyond in service to our community.

Two battalion chiefs, an Investigator II, six captains, seven engineers, a fire prevention officer II, and a cache logistics coordinator were promoted, each with their unique contributions that have helped shape our department.

We were honored to have esteemed guests, Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Councilmember Karina Talamantes and Councilmember Rick Jennings, join us in acknowledging the outstanding achievements of our personnel. Their presence underscored the importance of our mission to ensure the safety and well-being of our beloved Sacramento.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the families and friends of all those who were promoted. Your unwavering support is the foundation upon which our heroes stand, and your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. Together, we move forward, stronger and more united than ever, ready to face any challenge that comes our way.

Congratulations to our newly promoted team members, and here's to the bright future of Sacramento Fire! 🎉🔥

In 2001, Captain Jarred Hunt and Captain Nathan Green embarked on firefighting careers with the Sacramento Fire Department. While professional duties united them, it was their shared passion for baseball that sparked a remarkable friendship.

"I loved baseball ever since I was a kid," Captain Nathan Green shared, a sentiment that eventually blossomed into a driving force behind their collective journey.

In 2003, the two joined a newly established Sacramento Fire Baseball team. What started as an exclusive squad for Sacramento Fire members has since grown to include over 150 players from 20 different agencies. Their unifying aspiration: cherishing the game while contributing to the greater good.

Throughout the years, the team's roster has evolved, but their commitment to charity remains constant. The Sacramento Fire Baseball team has raised over $15,000 for charitable causes, including the Firefighters Burn Institute, leaving a positive impact on the community.

On the diamond, their accomplishments gleam too, marked by eight medals—two gold, three silver, and three bronze. Presently, the team braces for a tournament in Boston, not only for the thrill of competition but also for the opportunity to help others.

Reflecting on their journey, Captain Jarred Hunt stated, "On the baseball field, you can learn a ton of life lessons." These lessons have seamlessly woven into their firefighting career, enhancing their effectiveness in safeguarding the community.

The journey of Captains Hunt and Green, from firefighting partners to baseball buddies, exemplifies unity, athleticism, and compassion. Their story serves as a testament to the connections forged through shared passions and a dedication to making a difference.
