🏳️‍🌈"coming out is a lifelong process." this is a phrase I learned when I was training to be a hotline counselor. the reason it's true isn't about us. it's because we live in a world that will constantly project it's own ideas onto us. if we are lgbtqia, most of us feel like at some point we need to set the record straight in order to live comfortably and be ourselves. I wrote this song about my own experience grappling with coming out in high school, and how alone I felt. at the time it was about coming out as bisexual. more recently, I went through the whole set of emotions over again as I came out as nonbinary. it's a rollercoaster ride, especially right now when our community (especially trans folks) is under attack in the US by laws that seek to control our very existence. to anyone who is closeted and scared watching this right now: I promise you it gets better. you will find people it is safe to be yourself around. if your family rejects you, you will find there are people who are willing to step up and be your new family, and show you what it is like to be loved without having to hide who you are. sending you all my love and protective energy in this time. you are never truly alone in this, I promise. #lgbtqia #lgbt #comingout #queercommunity #lgbtmusic #singersongwriter #queersongwriter #enby #pride #safespace #youarenotalone #nonbinarytiktok #enbytiktok #lgbtqiatiktok created by rorie kelly with rorie kelly's original sound
