We need to have a vision for our community. I am passionate about solving homelessness, mental health, addictions issues, and these are all related to the healthcare system. we need more Frontline staff, nurses and doctors who we train and educate at the University of Manitoba. With your support we can actually move forward on these issues and ensure the government is actually doing what they should be doing. The best way to ensure the government do what we need is by having dedicated people in the Manitoba legislature to hold them to account. Tonight, was the all-party candidates debate in Windsor Park - Southdale. Debates are important for allowing citizens the chance to make good decisions. Incredibly not one but two candidates refused to come tonight. Both the Conservatives and NDP candidates in Southdale did not attend. According to our local community organizers they were both offered the opportunity to change times to better fit their schedule. The crowed even waited for them to come. If you refuse to debate in Southdale, how will you debate in the Manitoba Legislature and listen to different ideas. These moments demonstrate who is willing to hear hard questions and answer hard questions: to test their ideas to public scrutiny. Public service means being available and willing to listen to the citizens who elected you. On Oct 3rd vote for Real Change and Vote for Real Influence in the Manitoba Legislature. RESPECTFUL DEBATE & LETS KEEP KIDS OUT OF POLITICS. I had an interesting encounter with the NDP candidate in Southdale who told me I should’ve called her and asked for her permission to be able to even put my name forward to run, that we were essentially stealing their seat.
No political party is owed anything. You need to work hard & put forward the best ideas possible for citizens. All Manitobans deserve the right to have choice, to have debate, to hear all the political ideas during an election so they can make an informed decision about who they want leading our province.
But this conversation with the NDP candidate also crossed the line with the involvement of my children and at no time should Children be used by political opponents as a tool to score cheap political points. Day one of the campaign is finished. Talking to citizens on the doors (actually 43 days straight). People are pissed with politics as usual here in Manitoba and with politicians only represent political parties. Especially when they’re in the Legislature and a political party says “The decision has been made for you to vote like this.” People want someone to actually listen to them.
