But hold up, there's a sad truth that needs to be addressed: during the special legislative session in Tennessee, our courageous Covenant moms were unfairly ejected from committee rooms. 😔 This lack of empathy and the dangerous pride swelling within the Republican majority is leading them down a treacherous path. 🚫💔 #EmpathyMatters #UndoingInPride
But fear not, friends! We know that true strength lies in unity, compassion, and fairness! Together, we can conquer these obstacles and create a brighter future! 🌟✊ #UnityOverPride #CompassionWins
So let's spread this message far and wide, TikTok fam! Unleash your lion-like roar, and let's stand together for justice and equality! 💥🔓 #RoarForJustice #TogetherWeRise @Antonio Parkinson

Sending a major shoutout to everyone who showed up and gave it their all in the fight for our kiddos and fellow Tennesseans' safety. 🙌 The #UnSafety Special Session might've been a complete waste of time and taxpayers' hard-earned cash, but guess what? We managed to squash some seriously horrendous bills that would've made things even worse in our beloved state. 😎✌️ #YouRock #SuperMoms #CaringVibes #WeGotThis #youmatter #mothers #empathy #compassion
This is the moment where State Representative Antonio Parkinson gives a heartfelt apology to the parents of the #covenantschool mass shooting and all families and victims of gun violence in Tennessee for Tennessee's failure to protect its citizens. #foryou #BlackAndElected #solutions #guns #gunreform #democrats #republican #thetennesseethree #Tennessee #Politics #compassion #empathy #mothers #youmatter
Thank you to everyone who attended the Town Hall Meeting on Guns, Crime, Safety, and Mental Health. We were able to educate our people on the political issue with #guns and #MentalHealth in Tennessee, present and past laws, and more importantly, #solutions Thank you to my partners in the fight, Councilwoman Rhonda Logan, Michalyn Easter-Thomas, County Commissioner Charlie Caswell and School Board Commissioner Stephanie Love. #wearefamily
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (5/8/2023):
State Rep. Antonio Parkinson to Host Town Hall Meeting to Discuss Gun Reform and Safety
MEMPHIS-- State Representative Antonio Parkinson will host a town hall meeting in Memphis, Tennessee on Tuesday, May 9th to discuss the issues of gun reform, crime, safety, and mental health. The event will provide an opportunity for citizens to share their thoughts on the current state of gun reform in the city and beyond.
"At what point do we say, "enough is enough?" asks Parkinson. "How many more times are we going to hear an offering of thoughts and prayers from politicians who have the power to make a difference but choose to turn a blind eye to the issues at hand?"
The event will feature a panel of decision-makers who will provide insight into the scope of gun violence in Memphis and across the nation. They will also discuss ways that citizens can help create safer homes and communities by advocating for stronger gun laws. Participants will have the chance to ask questions and provide feedback on proposed solutions.
Attendees will also get the opportunity to connect with local and state law enforcement agencies and other organizations that are working towards reducing crime in Memphis. In addition, representatives from local organizations such as Mothers Demand Action For Gun Sense In America (MDA) and Everytown For Gun Safety (EGS) have been invited to the town hall meeting to offer their perspective on how best to address gun reform in Memphis and across the state. These organizations have long advocated for common sense solutions that protect citizens while respecting Second Amendment rights. The event will conclude with a call-to-action for citizens to become engaged in their communities by volunteering or attending meetings at the state capital.
"I believe it is essential that we take steps now to make our communities safer," said Parkinson. "This town hall meeting provides us with an opportunity to do just that."
The town hall meeting is free and open to all members of the public. It will take place at 6 pm on Tuesday, May 9th, at the Breath of Life Christian Center located at 3795 Frayser Raleigh Road
