E and V prefer being at the counter working right alongside me. This is possible with their double learning tower from @radchildrensfurniture .
Today we are making a traditional French cake, gâteau au yaourt (yogurt cake), albeit modified to meet dietary needs.
Yogurt cake is a great first recipe for children to bake as it’s mainly used the yogurt containers to measure most of the ingredients.
Here’s the recipe we use:
-2 yogurts (6 oz preferred, ours were dairy-free and 5.3oz)
-3 containers of flour (we used gluten-free)
-1 container of unsweetened applesauce
-3 eggs
-1.5 teaspoons baking powder
-1 teaspoon vanilla
-1 or 2 containers sugar (we omit completely leaving it not as sweet)
9x9
350° for 35 minutes (or until done)
