Dog rescue in Yulin today. Driving around today we saw a shop selling dog meat and saw 4 live dogs in a nearby cage. This vendor kills dogs to cook himself & sell out front. Today these 4 terrified souls were in line to die but were given a second chance. We can only help more dogs with your support. It’s imperative we fundraise to cover their subsequent vet care & to be able to rescue more. We’re just a small organisation & do our best with the limited resources we have while documenting Yulin the month of June. We endeavour to show Yulin as it is and how it changes for the so called festival, that begins on June 21st. While showing the reality, we also believe in saving innocent lives as most have no chance of getting out alive. Today whilst driving along a random street we saw an open air dog butchery area & observed a man openly killing a dog with blunt force, followed by a stab to the throat before laying it down next to another dead dog. Two poor souls in a near by cage knew it was their turn next. Walking around yesterday was challenging but this was too much to bear. It was quickly decided we would take them. Vendors don’t want to sell to rescuers now, & we have to pretend we also want the dogs for meat. As I mentioned yesterday they are considerably more protective over the trade here! The 2 dogs saved are one boy Bao and one girl Zhen Zhen They’re currently ongoing tests for contagious diseases, so far negative but Zhen Zhen isn’t eating, which is a bad sign! . We ‘ve created a fundraiser specifically for Yulin 2023 & appealing for the support of compassionate animal lovers to continue to save dogs & cats that will simply not survive without our intervention. Each year the same footage from previous years gets recycled and reshared, making it difficult to get a true understanding of what it's currently like. Until now. Our team has arrived to document the truth during the month of June and of course, to save precious lives! The act of rescue saves lives but it’s the subsequent care that makes the real difference. Sweet Otto’s journey post rescue had been a winding road. He’s a unique mix of German shepherd & Sharpie & has struggled with gastrointestinal issues and been in and out of the vets. Now things are looking up, his condition has stabilised & he’s been discharged from the vet, armed with a plethora of supplements. Update on Ebony & Ember both rescued 1 month ago from a dog truck. Black beauty Ebony is a bouncing ball of fun, very different to the shut down soul that first arrived. Now she’s grown in confidence & eager for human affection. Little Ember continues to be very at ease in the surroundings with a voracious appetite. Today we would like to share an update on sweet Paula, rescued almost 1 month ago from a meat truck. Paula realised very quickly that she was safe with us and has always been very relaxed and affable with the staff. She is eager to show affection and her tail is wagging a lot. Her blood albium levels were initially very low but they’re steadily rising and her overall health is better. She’s started vaccinations and soon will be able to leave the vet and go out base. We are coming up to the 4 week mark since the rescue of the dogs at the market and tonight we are sharing a few clips from today of greyhound Marlo. Marlo has been repeatedly checked for any serious diseases and has always come back clear ,He eats well and is comfortable around the hospital staff. Marlo had a clean up today in the groom room and left there feeling refreshed. He will be starting his vaccinations now and once they are finished he can leave the vets. Brave mama moira and her 3 miracle pups Beau. Arla and Zumi. While Moira was pregnant she was subjected to very rough handling by dog meat traders at the market. Fortunately our founder spotted her being weighed and was able secure her release. Mighty Moira went on to give birth these 3 adorable, healthy pups. They are adjusting well to life and the base.
