👀 disenchanting the creative process can be empowering actually!
☕️ one of the biggest misconceptions about being a full-time writer is that’s it a ~vibe~ - all coffee shops and calligraphy, aesthetic libraries, glamorous events and signings, and rolling around in a bed of beautiful finished copies of your work but lads… most of the time my day looks like yours. curled up in front of the screen wracking my brains for how I’m going to solve whatever problem has arisen today, sending emails to the various people I collaborate with, chasing invoices and replacing my keyboard batteries.
🌧️ but I don’t say all this to rain on your writing dreams… the opposite actually! The more you can let go of the fact that a creative’s life looks a certain aspirational way, the easier it will be to claim the title of creative based on how you already exist in the world - wrinkled trousers, greasy sling, dead batterie and all. ❤️
