Deviled eggs are a crowd pleasing quintessential holiday party appetizer. But filling them can be messy.
I find adding the filling to a Ziploc bag, twisting it and holding it with a chip clip, and snipping off the end, to be the easiest way to fill my favorite deviled eggs.
They also make for a lovelier presentation!
If you like this kitchen hack, follow me for more cooking tips.

Cracker toffee is a staple of the holiday season. But did you know you can make gluten free and dairy free?
I prefer using matzo over saltines because it is a more affordable option and you can break it into bigger pieces.
Ingredients
GF matzo crackers
1 cup earthbalance buttery sticks
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups enjoylifefoods chocolate chips
Sea salt
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a rimmed a baking sheet with foil.
Place the matzo on the sheet in a single layer. Break into pieces as needed.
In a medium saucepan over medium-high, melt butter and brown sugar together and bring to a boil. Stir occasionally until combined and sugar is melted.
Continue boiling, undisturbed for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and pour caramel mixture over the cracker layer.
Spread out with a spatula to the matzo cover them evenly.
Transfer the sheet to the oven and bake for 8 minutes, or until just bubbly.
Remove the sheet from oven and sprinkle immediately with chocolate chips. Let sit for a few minutes to soften and then spread out the melted chocolate.
Sprinkle with salt before the chocolate sets.
Refrigerate for 40 minutes. Remove the foil from the pan and break into pieces.
Save this and let me know if you make gluten and dairy free recipe!

UPGRADE YOUR THANKSGIVING PIE RECIPES!
This marshmallow meringue topping is so much better than even homemade whipped cream. Plus it's super easy to make and I've included the entire marshmallow recipe.
Ingredients
3 egg whites
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
¼ cup granulated sugar
7 oz jar marshmallow creme
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Add the egg whites, cream of tartar, and a pinch of salt to a large glass bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat the egg whites, until foamy. Add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, and beat until stiff and glossy peaks form.
Scoop the marshmallow creme into a large bowl. Add ½ the beaten egg whites to the marshmallow creme and stir with a rubber spatula to lighten the marshmallow creme. It will be extremely sticky. Gently fold in the remaining egg whites.
Spread the meringue over top of the chilled pie, swirling with the meringue to create peaks. Bake the pie for 5-7 minutes until the meringue is set and starts to turn golden brown. Place on cooling rack and let meringue cool before serving.

I feel like turnips are the root vegetable everyone forgets about. But it's a budget friendly recipe you should definitely try.
The turnips will get nice and caramelized on the stove top before you put them in the oven. I've cooked mine and bacon fat but you can skip the bacon if you are vegetarian.

If you love potato recipes, you need to try this roasted rutabaga, loaded with parmesan and thyme and absolutely crispy and delicious. What do you say? Does this side dish recipe have a place on your Thanksgiving dinner table???
Rutabagas- You need 2 pounds, about 3 average-size rutabagas.
Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese- For vegetarians try asiago cheese.
Olive Oil
Vegetable Stock- You can use chicken stock if keeping the recipe vegetarian isn't necessary.
Garlic
Thyme- You can use any combination of thyme, sage, and rosemary. I vary the herbs to match the protein I am cooking.

⏲️HOW TO MAKE BAKED RUTABAGA
Hands-on time for this recipe is about 10 minutes but even shorter if you have a mandolin.
STEP 1- PREP THE RUTABAGA
When slicing rutabagas thinly they don't have to be peeled. However, most rutabagas are covered in wax to keep them fresh. To check for wax push your thumbnail across the skin.
If there is wax present, go ahead and peel the rutabaga. If there isn't any wax, peeling is optional. Use a mandolin or sharp knife to slice the rutabagas into ⅛ to ¼-inch thick slices.
Trim the slices down or cut them in half if they are significantly wider than your baking dish is deep. It is okay for the slices to stick up ½ inch or so above the side of the dish.
STEP 2- SEASON
Combine half the parmesan, garlic, herbs, salt and pepper, and olive oil in a large mixing bowl. Add your rutabaga slices and use your hands to thoroughly coat both sides of each slice.
STEP 3- LAYER
Stack the rutabaga slices vertically so that the ridges face out of the baking pan. They should be tight enough to stand upright but not so tight the vegetable stock can't be poured over. You may have some extra.
Drizzle over the vegetable stock and be sure to scrape any cheese and seasoning
STEP 4- BAKE
Bake covered for 45 to 55 minutes until the rutabaga is soft and the top is turning golden. Sprinkle over the remaining cheese. Bake uncovered for 10 minutes to melt and crisp up the top.
