I was the first in my family to go to a university so I can relate with the first generation students of today. There should be more programs and opportunities to help these studnets who may not know what to expect and may have more challenges than their peers. Quite a Day in Commerce City participating in the Memorial Day Parade! During my walk, I thought of my Dad, CMSGT Andrew Ortega. He gave up so much to serve his country and he did it with a full commitment! He served in WWII, Korea and in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. My Dad inspired me to chose education as my vocation. He was one of millions who protected us and are now laid to rest. We honor you all! Mil Gracias!
