Some of you has asked about the species of the bears. Randy, seen here, is a syrian brown bear (like Leo!) and Kimmy is a brown bear/ black bear cross. They live together with Rosie, who is a Kodiak bear, like Jimbo was.

Sonya was all like “what is this about cutest bear in the pond competition? I can compete in that too!”. You sure can Sonya, you sure can!

Yesterday we posted a video saying Randy might be cutest pond bear…Leo was outraged. So today he is stepping up his game to retain his championship.

Randy is certainly giving Leo a run for “MOST ADORABLE BEAR IN THE POND” award for this year! And is it just me, or did it look like he was about to fall asleep sitting up?

If you missed the video a few days ago, I posted one of the outside of the sanctuary. This one is on the inside, where all the baby animals start off. As they grow and get bigger they get moved to the outdoor enclosures that I posted in the video a few days ago.

I made this video a few years ago of the outside of our sanctuary, and recently came across it. Thought I would share it again. Some things have changed of course, but this is the outside areas for our deer, small animals etc.

When the sun goes down, Leo likes relax in the pond and then wander around looking for his favorite greens.

Jenny and Amy. Amy is the lighter colored one bothering Jenny when Jenny tries to relax. 😜

Jenny - apparently Leo has taught her a little something about the joy of pond rocks! 🥰

Earlier this year we got a call from Taryn Dow, a fellow Rehabber. She knew of a young fox in distress. She was willing to trap the fox but she did not have a place to keep the fox. Taryn just got her rehabbers license. She put a great deal of effort into capturing the fox. After a couple of days of patient observation, she had success! The little fox was very thin. She also had mange. It was so bad on her face that she could not fully open her eyes. Taryn got her to us, and she has lived here under Susan’s careful and loving care. This little girl was cured of all her ailments and was released a few days ago. Good job by all!

INCOMING! These seven beautiful red squirrels just arrived. Mama was not be found and these little ones were trying to make it on their own. A Good Samaritan brought them to us. How can one mama squirrel raise all these young! WOW!

They love toys…but they also love boxes just about as much. Ha! This is Sonya investigating the box.

We’ve told you before that bears love to eat grass and some of you were very surprised. Here is Amy grazing (And Jenny walking toward the camera). Some bears don’t like meat much at all (Frankie was not a big meat fan). I know some people think of bears as blood thirsty predators, but that isn’t always the case. 😜

Chuck is all grown up and ready to face the world! We have begun his soft release and soon he will be managing completely on his own! Good luck buddy!
