Replying to @alexatorr24 How to answer NCLEX prioritization questions:

📌 Acute beats chronic
📌 Unstable beats stable
📌 Fresh post op beats 12 hrs post op
📌 Do not solely rely on ABCs for priority questions!

How to ✨ACE✨ nursing school exams

Step
#1 Pathophysiology
•What is happening in the body?
•What is wrong or needs to be fixed?
•Why is the pt experiencing this?
•Understanding the disease process will help you learn the risk factors, manifestations, tx & nursing interventions

Example: Left-sided HF patho → ineffective left ventricular contractility → left ventricle fails to pump 🩸 → ⬇️ cardiac output → fluid backs up into atrium & lungs → pulmonary congestion, dyspnea, activity intolerance, pulmonary edema

Step #2 Signs & Symptoms
•It is impossible to know every sign & sx of every disease-know what to focus on
•Focus on the MOST fatal symptoms & know how to assess for it in this patient
•Which symptoms would result in harm to the patient?

Example: We know that a pt with left-sided HF will present with lung symptoms due to fluid overload in the lungs. This means that the pt will present with difficulty breathing, cough, crackles & pulmonary edema.
