Things I wish I knew when I started making rugsโ€ฆ 1. Make sure you pull your monks cloth tight enough on the rug frame! If you donโ€™t pull the monks cloth tight enough your stitches wonโ€™t come out well, meaning the rug wonโ€™t be thick enough and you run a higher risk of ripping a hole in the fabric. 2. Always mirror your image when projecting a design onto the rug frame! This one we have messed up sooo many times. All designs have to be mirrored onto the frame because when you tuft, youโ€™re tufting from the backside of the rug. We have tufted entire rugs before realizing the design was backwards and we had to restart the rug. 3. Get a pair of electric scissors! We didnโ€™t get electric scissors until about a year later and I wish we had them all along. They make cutting the rugs off the frame so much easier. They also are great to use while finishing the rugs to get cleaner lines. 4. Tuft with two strands of yarn! When we tufted our first rug frame we didnโ€™t really know anything about tufting. We originally tried to tuft with one strand of yarn, the yarn would constantly fall out of the tufting gun and make things much longer. Two strands gives a tight stitch and the rug will get done a lot faster. Let me know any other information youโ€™re interested in knowing about tufting! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿผ #tufting #tufttheworld #tuftingart #tuftingrugs #rugs #customrugs #rugsoftiktok #textiles #textileart #rugmaking #howto #howtomakerugs created by Online Produce with Fleetwood Macโ€™s Everywhere
