NDIC's coverage limit for Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in the event of bank failure is N500,000. This fully covers over 97% of depositors. However, if in the event of bank failure, your account balance is above N500,000, you still get your money back. NDIC pays up the balance as liquidation dividends from proceeds of recoveries from the debts and assets of failed banks. Currently, the NDIC has paid in full (100%), including amounts above N500,000, the monies of depositors of 20 failed banks.
