What appeared to be a rocket soaring over the Southern California sky Thursday evening around 7:30 p.m. piqued the interest of people all over San Diego County. NBC 7 is working to confirm where the rocket came from and who launched it. The @San Diego Zoo Safari Park has welcomed two new Sumatran tiger cubs, and they're already "strong," the Wildlife Alliance says, though video shared by the park shows they're also adorably sleepy.
The cubs, a male and female, were born on July 12 and at just two weeks old, are about as big as their mom's paw.
The birth announcement is also important to the species, which is critically endangered. The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is part of conservation efforts for Sumatran tigers and celebrates the cubs' timely birth just weeks before #GlobalTigerDay on July 29.
