NHMU is excited to welcome the newest Wild World animal ambassador, a chinchilla kit! 🧡 Now, we want YOUR help to choose the name! 🧡 Born last month, the exhibit’s expert animal handlers from Canadian-based Little Ray’s Nature Centre have been monitoring Minccino (mom) and baby’s health. The kit is growing bigger and stronger each day, making our newest resident a furry delight for any guests lucky enough to catch a glimpse in the exhibit. Comment on this post with your best name ideas for our curious, adventurous new arrival. Our staff will choose the top 10 names from those submitted, and a public poll will determine our lucky winner. Become a part of conservation education by leaving your name ideas in the comments! #NHMU #conservation #babyanimal #chinchilla #chinchillas #wildworld #wildlife #utahcheck #natureisamazing #newmom #cuteanimals #favoriteanimal #fypシ #fyp

Women have always been essential to science, but as NHMU's Vertebrate Collections Manager Katrina Derieg reminds us, we often forget the women behind the scenes of some of the greatest scientific accomplishments in history.
We are celebrating the incredible #WomenInScience that move the world forward and reshape scientific fields. Check out our website for more inspiring stories and amazing accomplishments from #WomenInSTEM

Join us for an evening of thrilling expeditions and inspiring calls to action with paleoanthropologist and National Geographic Explorer Ella Al-Shamahi as she presents "Exploring Dangerous Places" on April 4 at The University of Utah.
Ella's lecture is the keynote address in this year's Lecture Series, which is exploring the Frontlines of Archaeology. Her work as a scientist and television host has taken her to unstable regions around the globe, where she is highlighting a "gold mine" of scientific potential that might otherwise go ignored.
Tickets to every lecture have sold out this year, so be sure to reserve your keynote seats at Kingsbury Hall today by visiting our website.
