Eldest daughter problems ❤️‍🩹 I’m glad I’m finally learning how to put myself first. It was scary and felt so wrong in the beginning, almost like a betrayal to everything I’ve ever known and everyone I love. But with a lot of effort and self reflection, I’ve been able to slowly start living for myself instead of thinking my only value comes from the things I do for others. I’d spent most of my life trying to please and help everyone around me, and yet it was still apparently not enough in their eyes. That realization made me ask the question: if I’m so focused on putting others first, then who’s putting me first? So after years of internally fighting the urge, I gave myself the permission to be “selfish” and only do things if my heart was 100% in it. It’s been slow progress, but I finally feel proud of the simple life I’m creating for myself. I’m learning to better honor my body, my creativity, and my inner child. No more doing things simply out of obligation, no more rotting in bed or doing anything I can to numb the pain. I’m finally living.
