Having the opportunity to take a full lunch break and go to a local restaurant with my husband during my remote work days has been really beneficial in our relationship. He is fully remote and I have a hybrid schedule. Which means that two days a week we get a full hour together during our lunch breaks. Sometimes we go for a long walk, sometimes we tackle house work, sometimes we go to a local restaurant. Regardless, having actual time together in the middle of the day has been a unexpected and happy little gift. The peace that I have when I am working remote is something I value and I am very grateful for. ##remotework ##hybridemployees ##worklifebalance
What goes into filming training content for Costco! Part of my job is to create internal training for the membership and front end department. In the warehouse i worked in both departments, and combining that experience with my prior career as a teacher has made this job a great fit and really enjoyable. #corporatetrainer #costcotiktok #formerteacher #teacherquittok #teachercareerchange
Are used to be teacher and now I work at Costco‘s corporate office. I create content for training front end and membership employees. My current project involves making a series of training videos to educate about policy and employee behavior. I used my teacher skills to begin with the end in mind, and think about who my audience was, what I wanted them to learn, and how would we know they have learned it. I have worked with multiple departments, locations, and done a lot of teamwork in this endeavor. It’s been really enjoyable to have creative freedom, but also work within the scope of clearly expressed expectations. Teachers make excellent Content developers, instructional designers, and corporate trainers. ##teachercareerchange ##costcotiktok ##formerteacher ##teachersoftiktok ##instructionaldesigner ##corporatetrainer
I grew up around a lot of clutter, and I have a mindset that makes me want to save things because I might need them someday, or to sell them, because I might not have enough money to replace them someday. I am at a point in my life, where I recognize, that clutter is suffocating me and I do not need to save things. I am also at a fortunate point in my life where I do not need to gather things up to sell on Facebook marketplace, children’s consignment, sales, or a yard sale. it is extremely difficult to physically let go of items from my home without the Safetynet of getting some thing for them. However, when I do finally donate things, it feels so good. There has never been some thing that I donated and wished I had not done so. I think this is especially complicated as a neurodivergent person, because I am in the mindset of categories, hobbies, special interests, and I have a very keen sense of how much some thing is worth both sentimentally and physically. I see a lot of neurodivergent people fall into the desire to keep so much stuff, and I also know how suffocating that feels. Decluttering is very healing for me, and I know that I will never be a minimalist, but I think I will always be in a cycle of evaluating, whether I need some thing or not. And this is something that I want to teach my children, and it amazes me at how good they are at choosing what to donate, and what to keep. #neurodivergent #decluttering #audhd
You can like the kennel before you start cleaning and you can buy yourself hours before you have a special occasion for it. We spend so much of our lives waiting for things to be right before we start. It’s OK to use your nice things now, and work gradually towards making improvements in your life you want to. Be gentle to yourself, be consistent, and start where you are. ##selfcare @@Kc Davis ##strugglecare ##domesticlabor ##declutteryourlife
A very common question people ask me is about how my skills as a teacher have translated to my new job as a corporate trainer. Today, I had the opportunity to work on a project for an upcoming conference, where the attendees are from Costco locations across the world. I created a presentation that pairs with the participant materials, facilitates group, discussion, and the outcome is team oriented. All of this felt very similar to me to the work that I did as a teacher. I really enjoy creating content like this, and I was able to completely draw on prior skills that I had before coming to Costco. I really enjoy that. My job as a content developer allows me to be creative, and work with like-minded people. As a teacher, the best parts of my job were the connections, and seeing these moments happen with my students. Now, the audience is not students, but it is Costco employees. I am really looking forward to seeing the conference come to life, and I have enjoyed developing materials for it.#CorporateLife #Costco #FormerTeacher #TeacherCareerChange
Replying to @avery requiring strict dress codes of student teachers makes student teachers look different than teachers employed at the school. It undermines the professionalism and relationship building of student teachers in their school. It undermines their autonomy. It does not make them more professional to be standing there in a blouse and close toed shoes. universities use dress code to control groups of young women. @The Group Behavior Gal is an expert in this field! Check out her content. The way she describes high control groups and cults is absolutely parallel to the way we train educators. #studentteacher #firstyearteacher #formerteacher #highcontrolgroups
