Suet cakes are a fun treat to provide your flock during the colder months! You can use a wide variety of dry ingredients in your suet including dried fruit, unsalted nuts, grains, and seeds.
We like using our grain feed, grubs, and herbs from @ScratchandPeckFeeds. The recipe in the comments is quick and easy. Our chickens love it!

The perfect compliment to the brown stones on our property!
We found this beautiful stone sold by Get Real Stone when looking at custom home builds in our area. We saw this on a house and reached out to the builder to figure out the name.
The stone is called Coyote Gray and it is a stone veneer. We installed it on 3 walls and LOVE how it looks! It’s the perfect rustic look we were going for!

Mix one part high quality grain feed and to 2 parts non-chlorinated water in a food grade bucket or glass container.
After 24-48 hours the mixture will appear bubbly and have a yeasty smell. Strain off the excess liquid before feeding it to your flock.
Start with small batches and monitor the chickens acceptance. Adjust the fermentation time as needed!
You can use our code “MASONDIXON15” for 15% off your Scratch and Peck Feeds order! Link is also in our bio 🥰

If you decide to go this route, make sure to get it approved in writing with your local jurisdiction before starting the project!
Some areas may even allow you to build a completely separate building but in our case, the two structures have to share a building envelope.
We haven’t started designing the addition but these small features should give us enough flexibility for the future!

#ad Our girls started paying egg rent! 🎉
It’s always fun to see what color eggs each of the new chickies lay! Most of ours are laying light brown eggs with one being a dark, deep brown color! 😍
We hatched new chicks in March of this year. Our girls have slowly been growing, enjoying their starter and grower feed from @scratchandpeckfeeds. Now it’s time to switch them over to the Layer feed!
