I have a buddy named Carson and he loves the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In fact he saw their concert in Toronto this past summer.
So, whenever a song comes up I think of him and his pure enjoyment of the band. He grew up with them. I did as well, but have not appreciated their talent until the ripe age of 48.
Give It Away I’d such an iconic and nostalgic piece of work. The energy they bring as a whole is unmatched and something in awe of. Decades later the band has meaning.
Have a listen, let me know what your think in the comments.

There is something about this song. It could be the joyfulness at the start of the song, intriguing lyrics or the combination of the vocals that make it a song to remember.
Tongue Tied by @Grouplove is something the admire. I’ve heard it many times and every time I enjoy it.
"Tongue Tied" is a love song that captures the feelings of being completely in awe with someone and the desire to express those feelings, even if it means being a little tongue-tied at times. I’ve been there and can 100% relate.

Was listening to 102.1 The Edge once again. This seems to be my choice on the radio. Yes, I still listen to the radio as our car and tech is old. I’m liking it when I drive The Bus, which is a 2010 GMC Terrain.
Anyway, this song comes on and I opened Shazam. It’s Burning by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Solid, unquestionable combination of beats, drums, guitar and vocals. The lyrics are immersive.
Watched a few live shows and the band has such a free vibe about them. Really don’t know who is in the band as I’m just learning about the importance of music. I did notice the members are really enjoying themselves.
Did some quick research online. This band is wildly successful and I love how their name is from where they lived, possibly still live. Unsure.

This song with a wicked drum beat, funky guitar riffs, and soulful yet raspy vocals caught my attention.
Was listening to @1021theedge yesterday on the way to get way to get lunch and check out bike helmets. Shazamed it because my depth of music knowledge is small. I’d say at age 12 level but I’m 48.
Wild Child popped up by @The Black Keys .
I listened to it today 5 times already. The lyrics are so well written, tells a story and got my mind drifting away, and returning.
Also, I never knew that The Black Eyed Keys won 5 Grammy’s. That’s 5 times next level.

"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" is a power ballad by the American rock band Poison, released in 1988 as a single from their album "Open Up and Say... Ahh!". The song was written by the band's lead vocalist Bret Michaels, and it tells the story of a man who falls in love with a woman but loses her to another man.
The chorus repeats the theme that "every rose has its thorn", meaning that even the most beautiful things in life can come with pain and hardship.
The song has a melancholy tone, with acoustic guitar and a slow tempo that conveys a sense of heartbreak and regret. Michaels' vocals are emotive and raw, adding to the emotional impact of the lyrics.
Poison was formed in Pennsylvania in 1983, and they became one of the most successful glam metal bands of the 1980s. Along with Michaels, the band's lineup included guitarist C.C. DeVille, bassist Bobby Dall, and drummer Rikki Rockett. Poison's music was characterized by their catchy hooks, anthemic choruses, and high-energy performances.
Despite their popularity, Poison also faced criticism from some quarters for their perceived lack of musical depth and reliance on glam rock cliches. However, they continued to release successful albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and they remain a popular live act to this day.
Throughout their career, Poison has sold over 45 million records worldwide and charted ten Top 40 singles, including "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". They were inducted into the Hollywood Rock Walk in 2007, and they continue to tour and record new music.

"The Weight" is a classic song by The Band, released in 1968. The lyrics are filled with metaphorical and symbolic language, and the meaning of the song has been interpreted in different ways over the years. Here is a possible interpretation:
The song tells the story of a traveler who stops in a small town called Nazareth, looking for someone named "Crazy Chester." He meets several characters along the way, including a woman named Anna Lee and a man named Fanny. The traveler is burdened by a heavy load, and he asks these characters for help in carrying it.
The "weight" in the song can be interpreted in different ways. It can represent the burdens of life, the emotional baggage that we carry with us, or the struggles of the human condition. The traveler is looking for someone to share this weight with, to lighten his load.
"Crazy Chester" can be seen as a symbol of madness or chaos, something that the traveler wants to avoid but can't escape. Anna Lee and Fanny are characters who offer help, but they also have their own struggles and limitations.
The chorus of the song ("Take a load off, Fanny / Take a load for free / Take a load off, Fanny / And you put the load right on me") can be interpreted as an invitation to share the burden of life with others, to help each other out in times of need. The phrase "take a load off" suggests a sense of relief and release, a letting go of the weight that we carry.
Overall, "The Weight" is a song that speaks to the universal human experience of struggling with the challenges of life, and the importance of finding connection and support in others.

"Funky Cold Medina" is a song by the rapper Tone Loc, released in 1989. The song tells the story of Tone Loc's attempts to seduce women using a supposed aphrodisiac drink called "Funky Cold Medina." The lyrics are humorous and playful, with a catchy chorus that has become a popular catchphrase.
In the first verse, Tone Loc describes how he meets a beautiful woman at a bar, but she rejects his advances. He then tries his luck with a different woman, but she also rebuffs him. Frustrated, he decides to use his secret weapon: the Funky Cold Medina.
The chorus explains that the drink is a "love potion" that will make any woman fall for him. He describes the drink as being "like a chemical," with a powerful effect on women.
He claims that the drink has worked for him before, and he's confident it will work again.
In the second verse, Tone Loc meets another woman, and this time he's successful in getting her attention. He invites her to his place for a drink, and he mixes her a glass of the Funky Cold Medina. The drink seems to have an immediate effect on her, and she becomes more interested in Tone Loc.
However, things take a comical turn in the third verse, as Tone Loc discovers that he's accidentally given the drink to his dog, who then proceeds to chase after every woman in the neighborhood. The chorus repeats, emphasizing the power of the Funky Cold Medina.
Overall, the song is a playful and humorous take on the idea of using a "love potion" to seduce women. While the lyrics may be seen as objectifying or misogynistic by some, others see them as simply a lighthearted parody of male bravado and the search for love and romance.
