Every single week. Year after year, month after month, week after week, and then, finally, thanks to syndication and streaming services, day after day.
When “Friends” first hit the air, yours was the character I identified with most easily and easily the most: if for no other reason than the fact that you reminded me so much of myself.
And when your character’s love story with Monica began to mirror that of mine with Jennifer, it just made me love Chandler that much more. Then, Chandler and Monica “tied the knot” just THREE days before I married my own true love. Coincidence?
You brought us so much joy, so many laughs, so many endearing and heartfelt moments. You gave SO much of yourself to a world that NEEDED your gifts, and we responded by adoring you. I only wish that would’ve been enough. That it would’ve helped you conquer your inner demons (a concept I easily identify with) so that you would’ve found inner peace sooner.
Regardless, thank you, Matthew. You were a fantastic talent with effortless charm, brilliant comedic chops, unique delivery, and enough charisma to fuel an entire cast of 6.
