As of 12:30 PM yesterday, the DOST-PHIVOLCS has observed the presence of volcanic smog or vog over Taal Volcano, which has persisted until now. Continuous upwelling at the Taal Main Crater Lake has generated steam plumes reaching 2,400 meters before drifting west-southwest. On September 21, 2023, a total of 4,569 tonnes/day of volcanic sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas emissions from the Taal Main Crater were recorded. Satellite monitors have also detected a significant SO2 cloud over and west of Taal Lake. Those living in towns nearby Taal Volcano should heed these precautions and stay safe. PHIVOLCS, however, has clarified that smog over Metro Manila is due to pollution and thermal inversion and not because of the Taal Volcano. "PAG-ASA released information today that there is thermal inversion of the atmosphere over Metro Manila and some parts of Southern Luzon. This means that the atmosphere is layered and is unable to mix, causing pollution which we normally generate every day...to accumulate over the metropolis," PHIVOLCS Chief of Volcano Monitoring and Eruption Prediction Division Mariton Bornas said in an interview with ANC today, September 22.

To cap off a day full of public engagements, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. (PBBM) celebrated his 66th birthday at the Kalayaan Hall of Malacañang Palace on September 12, 2023. Held day earlier than his actual birthday, the private event was attended by PBBM's family, friends, senators, congressmen, and other public servants.

Earlier that day, PBBM was at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Central Office in Quezon City for the presentation of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 11953 or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act of 2023.

PBBM, who concurrently serves as the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA), revealed his birthday wish during his speech at the event: "Maging maayos na ang agrikultura at malaman na natin kung ano ba talaga ang weather, wet season ba o dry season, para naman matulungan natin 'yung mga farmer natin. 'Yun lamang naman ang aking panalangin pa rin hanggang ngayon."

On his birthday, September 13, President Marcos attended the Milken Institute's 10th Annual Asia Summit in Singapore. Upon the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the president will also watch the F1 Singapore Grand Prix 2023 this Sunday.

PBBM's son, Congressman Sandro Marcos of the 1st District of Ilocos Norte, said in a Faceboook post: "Happy happy birthday pop! I know and have seen how having the weight of the country on your shoulders has proven to be extremely stressful, but I will always be of the belief that I can't think of anyone better than you to handle the problems we face."
